4. Embedded360 Labs
SRM Research Institute is now fully operational in Bangalore. Starting of another unit in Chennai is on the cards and would take place anytime soon. Expansion to other strategic locations is also in the pipeline as the management's aim is to have distributed research centers. The purpose of Embedded360 labs is to carryout extensive research and to publish the research results in reputed journals. These research papers would be presented at important conferences as well.
The research areas in the department include pattern recognition, neural networks, wireless and mobile data mining and image processing. A project entitled "SRM-PURA" (Providing Urban amenities for Rural Areas) - IT enabled services for villages, aims to create a network with a multi-purpose community information center in the campus, linking around 15 villages. There are around 8 part time Ph.D scholars doing their research here.
